Izz and Liv turned a year yesterday (May 8th) It has been such an amazing year sometimes hard but most of all amazing. I realized I never wrote about their birth so I thought I would write about it now. I went into the hospital mid April because I was having contractions and I had dialated to a 2. I was started on magnesium to slow down the contractions which worked but I had to be put on immediate bed rest. Because I couldn't feel my contractions I had to stay in the hospital and have non stress tests everyday. I spent my birthday, Easter and Mother's day in the hospital. It was a long month. I went to labor and deliver 3 different times because I kept going into labor. So on Saturday May 7th I had a couple of visitors, my cousins and parents. The L & D nurse came up to do my stress tests about 4:00 and I was having pretty strong contractions every minute. She called the doctor and the doctor said to check and see if I was dialating and I was dialated to a 6. The nurse told me that they were taking me down to labor and delivery again to try and stop my contractions. I called Jase and told him to get to the hospital asap. They hooked me up to more magnesium and gave me a couple of other things to try and get my contractions to stop. Finally around 10:30 they stopped and Jase and I tried to get some sleep around 12:00. (Sleeping on a magnesium dip with two babies being monitored is pretty much impossible) My doctor came in Sunday morning (Mother's Day) to check on me and I was dialated to a 6 and she told Jase and I that I could stay on L&D until my water broke (she gave me a day before that happened) or we could have a C-Section that morning to get my little girls out. We chose to have them when everyone was not under stress so about a half hour later I was wheeled into surgery. I was terrifed! The got me all prepped and Jase came in when they were ready to start. We heard Isabelle's little cry first and she sounded like a baby kitten. Jase stood up to see her and he saw them pull Olivia out. Isabelle weighed 3 lbs 11 oz and Olivia weighed 3 lbs 4 oz. They showed me the girls and then rushed them to the NICU. When I got back to my room both of our families were there. They had to stabilize the girls before anyone could see them but after what seemed like 3 hours Jase was able to take our families in the NICU. I couldn't go though until my legs weren't numb. That was the hardest thing. I finally got to see my sweet babies around 6:00. So amazing!!!
And a year later Isabelle weighs 19 lbs 2 oz and Olivia weighs 16 lbs 3 oz. They have done so well and other than just being a little small for their age there were no long term problems. We have honestly seen so many blessings this year and we are so grateful for our beautiful daughters. Happy Birthday Babies!
